Port Clinton Music Booster
Minutes: 09/11/06 Time: 7:30 pm.
Attendance: President, Kim Royster, Vice President Amy Krupp, Treasurer, Bob Dodge, Secretary, Gloria Alvarado, Carol & Greg Fox, Rod Miller, Brian Stitak, Theresa Spitler, Becky Zoller, Andrea Wells, Gini Stevenson, Brenda Fisher, Sherre Quan, Mike Snider, Mike Libben, and Jody Bacak
Secretary Report: Read and accepted by Carol Fox second by Becky Zoeller.
Correction: New Business: Rod Miller noted in last months minutes there was a misunderstanding in regards to the students attending the skull session, it was noted that the students would be performing with the OSU band. That is incorrect the students do not perform with the OSU band.
Treasurers Report: Bob reported that as of September 11, 2006 our checking account balance is $6,612.17. Bob purchased a Sam’s Club membership for the Music Booster and can only be used by a Music Booster and purchase can only be paid by a Music Booster check. Membership income total to date, $3,775, members to date 129, a difference in 29 more members and $505 more in donations from last year.
Concessions Stand: Gloria/Theresa reported everything is going well volunteers are doing a great job. No complaints which is a plus! Kim Royster mentioned possibly getting key changed for storage room, she will contact the board.
Fruit Sale: Carol reported that she has contacted PJ’s and she should receive the packets for the fruit sale by September 25, and the selling dates begin October 17th thru November 17, call in date for orders are December 1st. Delivery date is on December 14, 2006. Carol also mentioned several new products, cheese cake, beef sticks etc. Also Carol mentioned if we submit a picture of the students advertising said product and they use it in their flyer they will send a check for $100.
OSU March Band Weekend: Kim Royster mentioned that tickets for the PC/OH football game featuring the OSU band will go on sale beginning on September 18, 19, 20 and 25th , on those dates parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, etc. are needed to sell tickets in the PAC, if anyone interested please inform Kim. Mike Snider/Mike Libben reported that they have contacted Krogers and Bassett’s grocers and they have agreed to provide the OSU band with several assorted juices, fruits, cereal etc. to feed the band the morning after their performance. They both indicated that they would need help in setting up the box breakfast. The band will be staying at the Guest Inn there is approximately 275 members.
Open House/Alumni: It was mentioned that a table should be setup for a non-manned info/membership table in a music room for Saturday’s tour.
Director Reports: Mr. Fox reported Touch of Class auditions will be completed by Wednesday, September 11, and members of the ensemble posted on that Thursday. 39 students auditioned for the 24 positions in the group. September 9th six members of the men’s ensemble sang the National Anthem at the district tennis matches. On Sat. Sept. 23rd the choirs will perform for the annual alumni gathering at PCHS. There will be an overnight trip to Columbus for the chamber ensemble Touch Of Class in December to perform in the Ohio Statehouse. Mr. Fox also mentioned he would like to take the students to the Opera at the Valentine Theater in Toledo.
Mr. Miller reported 6th grade band will being in early October and will be held at the high school from 7:30 am -8:10 am. Newsletters are being sent out and the band handbook has been approved and will be printed and sent out ASAP. Upcoming performances: Sept. 14 – PAC- Arts Festival Sept. 23 – Anthony Wayne Band Festival/Whitehouse Oct. 7 – Orrville Band Festival/Orrville, OH
Mr. Stitak reported Thursday, October 19 will be the first concert of the year for the Orchestra. It will feature all string students from grades 7th -12th, concert is free all are welcomed. Recruitment for elementary orchestra will be taking place at the end of September.
Mr. Bixler was not present, but sent a report with Mr. Stitak. 7th grade has a total of 22 students/8th grade a total of 21. Concert dates for the year are as follows: Dec. 14th Holiday Concert Mar. 1st Winter Concert May 8th Spring Concert May 28th Memorial Day Ceremony.
