Unfinished Business: Fruit Sale: This is the last week of the sale. Carol Fox will need 9-10 people on Saturday morning to help tally the orders. They are hoping to work 8 am – 11 am. The sale seems to be going well. Also, Mally’s candy was approved as a fundraiser by the Board of Education.
Membership table/ Holiday Concerts: Kim Royster would like to have volunteers to man tables at the Middle School concert on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 and High School concert on Tuesday, December 19, 2006. Please let her know if you are able to help.
Committee for OMEA meeting December 9, 2006: We need volunteers for a refreshment committee on December 9, 2006. Carol Fox will get coffee and rolls. Kim Royster will get fruit.
Director Reports: Mr. Greg Fox: Middle School choirs performed at the Veterans Day program Saturday, November 11, 2006 at American Legion. Thirty-one high school choir students will attend the opera Don Pasquale on Wednesday, November 15, 2006. Community Christmas Sing is Sunday, December 3, 2006. Holiday Breakfast with the Arts is scheduled for Wednesday, December 20 at 8:30 am at the High School. We need to set up a committee for concessions, set-up, and take down for the festival on January 27, 2007. Touch of Class will be on Tour December 1-2, 2006 in Columbus, Ohio. They will perform prior to the Terra Community College Festival Concert on Saturday, December 2, 2006. They have 9 other performances scheduled during December.
Mr. Miller: Sixth grade band meets at the High School every morning in the PAC from 7:30 am to 8:00 am. It is going very well. The band is preparing for the Holiday concert and Breakfast with the Arts. Some outstanding bills for band members will be distributed this week. A HUGE thank you for the support during the marching band season.
Mr. Stitak: Sixth grade orchestra has started with 17 active participants. The first concert was October 19, 2006 for both Middle and High School Orchestra. On October 21, 2006 four students received a personal string clinic from the Muse Quartet at Fireland’s Presbyterian Church. Port Clinton students were the only ones who came to this event. A group of string players will perform at Bassett’s Market on December 2, 2006. The Middle School concert date was moved to December 13, 2006 to accommodate athletic schedules.
Mr. Bixler: Eighth grade band is set up their own concert material. The ensembles are selecting their own music and it is working out quite well. They are preparing for the Holiday Concert.
New Business: New Fundraiser: David Jarrell- Century Resources- Mr. Jarrell was here to present a variety of brochures that we could use as a fundraiser. He brought samples of some products. Mr. Miller has worked with this company in the past and been very successful. We would have to get approval from the Board of Education to set up another fundraiser. This might be something for Spring time. Mr. Miller also discussed a Community Garage Sale that he has done as a fundraiser previously. It was held in October and the biggest jobs were finding storage for items and pricing the items. It was set up so that a charity would come by after the sale and pick up any unsold items. This was also discussed as a future possibility.
Feeding Pep Band: The Pep Band feeds at third quarter last year were sponsored by various Pep Band parents. It was suggested that we set up a schedule for this year. We would first need to get a list of Pep Band participants and then try to work with the parents. This would only be for Home games.
Chairperson for the OMEA Festival: We need to set up a chairperson and committee for the Festival. In the past there was hot dogs, pop, water, breakfast stuff, cookies, etc. There was discussion as to whether or not anything had been handed down as to what to prepare, how much to purchase, charge etc. Nothing has been located. Several people were going to try to talk to those who have worked in the past. Sheree Quan has volunteered to try to follow up on this with former chair people.
Brian Stitak made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:30 pm. Becky Zoller seconded the motion.

Director Report for Orchestra November 2006
6th grade orchestra has started with 17 active players.
On October 19, 2006 the Port Clinton City School Middle and High School orchestra took center stage in the PAC for their annual Fall concert. Students performed variety of music very well. A great deal of positive feedback has been received from parents, administrators and other community members.
On October 21, 4 students received a personal string clinic from the Muse Quartet at Fireland’s Presbyterian Church. Andrea De Leon, Nicole Salvador, Mallory Schraidt, and Rob Szabo experienced a great time of hands on learning from quartet members prior to the quartet’s performance that evening. The Muse String Quartet is made up of string faculty members of The University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan State University, and Heidelberg College and they play as individuals regularly in The Toledo and Detroit Symphony Orchestras. Port Clinton students were the only ones to come to this event and take advantage of this free clinic.
High school and middle school orchestras are currently making preparations for their annual Christmas concerts as well. In the spirit of the season a small group of string players will perform on December 2, 2006 at Bassett’s Market to help kick off the “Most Wonderful Time Of The Year”. We will be plying Christmas music starting at noon and will play for about a half hour at the coffee counter. The date of the middle school concert was changed to Wednesday December 13 to accommodate athletic schedules. This concludes the November 2006 orchestra director’s report.
