President Chris Harris opened the meeting.

Minutes from the Sept. meeting were read and accepted.

The Treasurers Report (attached) was presented by Marcia Bloom. Concession stand profit is at $3,951. Stands are not making as much as last year.  Jann Wozniak motioned to accept treasurers report, seconded by Bob Dodge. Motion carried

Instructor Reports (attached) were given by Tom Bixler, Greg Fox, Tood Peitz, and Brian Stitak.

Old Business-

Booster Auction- Jann Wozniak reported that ticket sales were up from about 169 last year to 217 this year. However auction bids were down with an approximate $25,000 profit. Good comments were heard especially about the fact that the Auction was moved back to the high school. Big thanks to all who helped make the Auction a success.

Marcia Bloom reported that the Music Booster Membership is between 115-120 this year.

Thanks was given to Kelly Lillie and Jane Fleming for setting up the concession stand help.

Raincoats-A fax was received by Mr.Peitz from the Midwest Band and Frontline Accessories Co. stating that the raincoats that are backordered will not be available for another 3 months. There was discussion on whether we should get our money back and reorder in the spring or let the order ride. It was decided that we should wait on this order.

Fruit Sales-Marcia will be presenting the Fundraiser in the classrooms on Friday Oct. 14th. We are trying something different this year in the fact that we are not using neighborhood captains as we have in the past. Delivery will be at the High School Dec. 15th or 16th. The kids can earn up to $100 toward the Florida trip by selling the fruit. Fruit cost is relatively the same as last year for the exception of grapefruit. We are also selling cheesecakes. Cheesecake sales incentive is having your name put in a drawing for Mall Gift Cards, 1 chance for each sale. There will separate drawings for the Middle School and High School.

New Business- None

A Question asked-Are there any other meetings beside the regular scheduled meetings that take place? The answer was no there are not.

A motion was made by Alice Root to adjourn seconded by Carol Fox.

Meeting was adjourned.

CHOIR REPORT

October 10, 2005

Touch of Class auditions were completed September 15, 2005. Thirty-five different students attended eight days of after-school auditions and twenty-five were accepted. Their first performance is this coming Thursday October 13 at the CIC club for the Ottawa County Republican Fall Dinner.

Thirty-five PCHS students attended the opera The Marriage of Figaro on September 29. We departed at 4:00 P.M. and arrived back home at 11:30 P.M. Carol and I were chaperones for the trip.

All HS choirs will give a short program this Saturday evening October 15 for the alumni dinner in the HS cafeteria.

Choir students Beau Hamann, Marlee Fick, Jessica Gorney, Amanda Blankenbecker, and Zachary Smith have been providing the national anthem a cappella for the tennis tournaments on Thursday and Saturday mornings.

Nineteen choir students were present for the booster’s auction to help on committee and to sing the fight song at intermission time. Alumnus Keith Conte volunteered his time to provide piano music, and sophomore Jose Pizana also played the piano. Nine of these students remained until 12:00 a.m. to help with the clean up.

PCHS music departments are hosting the District Festival. Festival rehearsal is scheduled for Monday January 9, 2006, and the all-day festival rehearsal/concert is Saturday January 14, 2006. We will need the help of the boosters to run concessions.

The PCMS choirs and the HS Touch of Class will participate in a community benefit concert for the victims of the hurricanes on Friday November 4, 2005 in the PAC at 7:00 P.M. The benefit is being organized by community members.

There is one additional student in the HS choirs who enrolled last Friday. She is in the Chorus.

Director Report

Date: 10-10-05

Orchestra continues to be off to a great and active start. Middle School and high school orchestra groups will play their first concert of the year on Thursday October 20, at 7:30 PM in the PAC. Both groups have been working very hard in preparation for this concert and a variety of musical selections will be performed by each.

With regard to the elementary strings program, 6th grade students at Bataan, Jefferson, ICS, and Portage attended a meeting on Tuesday October 4. Beginners will start on Monday October 18, 2005. Total number of students participating in 6th grade strings should be up from last year’s 6th grade class according to the slips received from the prospective students.

OMEA NW Region Orchestra this year will be hosted by River Valley High School in Marion and Beau Hamann will be auditioning for this group on Sunday October 16. Preparations are well under way for this year’s D2 festival as well. Audition tapes are to be postmarked November 23, and we will evaluate the tapes on December 3.

MUSIC BOOSTERS – DIRECTOR REPORT

October 10, 2005

The band will be performing in competition this Saturday at the Northcoast Competition at Perkins High School in Sandusky, Ohio. Our performance time is at 5:30 pm, with the awards ceremony being held at 7:15. We should be returning to the school at approximately 8:30 pm. We will be performing next weekend at Brunswick Competition, but I have yet to receive a time from them.

The 6th grade band will be starting soon, as I have recently completed fitting the students for instruments. This looks to be a talented group. Students from all of the schools are represented, and parents attended an informational meeting on October 4th, held here in the band room. Rehearsals will begin on October 18th.

We will be hosting several alumni this weekend for an alumni band, which will participate in the pre-game festivities with the high school band. Alumni band members will be playing the alma mater, the fight song, and the national anthem with the high school members on the field, as well as participating in the parade to the stadium prior to the game. Any alumnus who wishes to participate may join us, and we ask that they please wear Redskin attire.
